Flexicare ‘Night in the Museum’ Concert Returned for Another Magical Evening

Flexicare are thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of our annual ‘Night in the Museum’ Concert, held at the University of Oxford Museum of Natural History.

The event, which took place on 1st March 2025, brought together a diverse audience of music enthusiasts, philanthropists, and supporters of Flexicare’s invaluable mission. The evening was marked by captivating performances by the talented Ivel Flute Trio: Catherine Wilmers, Emma Halnan and Jill Morton, who enchanted the audience with their remarkable talent and diverse repertoire.

The concert featured works by Dmitri Shostakovich and Josef Suk, ending with a feverishly upbeat performance of Christopher Caliendo’s Caliente for flute, cello and piano.  The Trio lent a special focus on some little-known women composers of the 20th century: Peggy Spencer-Palmer and Alice Verne Bredt, featuring some enchanting phantasies, bagatelles and sarabandes.  But the high point was Karl Jenkins’ Ryers Down, an evocation of the Gower Peninsula written especially for flautist Emma Halnan, who performed it.  The concert was delivered in the thrilling atmosphere of Oxford University’s Natural History Museum, where the breathtaking architecture and the dignified presence of elephant, giraffe and dinosaur skeletons lent a spellbinding enchantment to the evening.

A Special Thanks
Flexicare extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Ivel Flute Trio, for their outstanding performance, and for their longstanding dedication to supporting our charity.

The success of the concert would not have been possible without the unwavering support of all the guests who purchased tickets and participated in the raffle, contributing to Flexicare’s fundraising efforts. Their generosity and commitment to our cause are deeply appreciated.

A special thank you to Andrew and Lynda Humphries who donated the bubbles for the drinks reception.

Furthermore, Flexicare would like to extend a special thank you to our dedicated team and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the event. Their hard work and dedication were essential in creating an unforgettable experience for all.

Last but not least, Flexicare acknowledges and appreciates the collaboration and support received from everyone at the University of Oxford Museum of Natural History. The stunning venue provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of music, community, and philanthropy.

“We are truly overwhelmed by the tremendous success of this year’s ‘Night in the Museum’ Concert,” said Maureen Tossi, Charity Manager at Flexicare. “The support and generosity of everyone involved have exceeded our expectations, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue our vital work in supporting families with disabled children.”

Flexicare remains committed to our mission of providing specialised support services to those in need within our community, and the success of events like the “Night at the Museum” Concert reaffirms the importance of our work.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of Flexicare’s ‘Night in the Museum’ Concert 2025. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of families in need.
